The IAE (Institute for Advanced Engineering) is an academy-industry-institute collaboration complex as well as a research association of industrial technologies, which is established by the Act on the Support of Industrial Technology Research Association. It aims for the introduction and distribution of advanced technologies and R&D in the field of industrial technologies.
As an industrial technology research union, the IAE cooperates with over 100 institutions every year, including small and medium-sized companies, universities and research institutes as a research project-based (Project based System: PBS), and are leading the way in spreading technology and fostering small and medium-sized companies. Based on this, we have grown into a research institution with the highest level of technology development capabilities in Korea that contributes to industrial development and national competitiveness.
Since its establishment, the IAE has developed core competencies in various fields, and are leading the practical use of technology and the social spread of its achievements by achieving the best technology in Korea, especially in energy/environmental plants, mechanical/parts design/interpretation and welding, recycling of waste resources/up cycling of parts materials.
Furthermore, based on plant gasification-based technology that has been steadily developed since the early days, it is developing into a specialized research institute for green new energy in line with the ‘decarbonization’ era, such as production/storage/utilization of hydrogen energy, CCUS, and wind power generation-based technology.
The IAE is not complacent about their past achievements and are preparing for a new leap forward. Recently, we established a new vision of 「IAE Vision 2032: self-reliant research institutes that drive future industries with innovative technologies and practical values」 , and established mid- to long-term strategies for innovative growth over the next 10 years. In particular, we are establishing 10 future technologies including new industries such as carbon neutrality (hydrogen, CCUS) and promoting qualitative and quantitative growth by securing excellent human resources in related fields.
Moving forward, under the three core values of ‘practicality, flexibility, and professional’, we will prioritize strengthening the capacity of individual institutions and researchers, securing expertise, and enhancing customer satisfaction, and we will strive to become an institution trusted by customers through continuous innovation.
